OK, I'm over doing it in the video, but it makes a point - the pop up does delete text.
And, while not shown in the video, why can you not select the emoticon you want with a tab, return, or space? Why do you have to move you hand over to the mouse and click it? I wouldn't suggest return for a keyboard control though, as is site loves 'enter to post' and 'enter to sent that half written, draft, PM to KevinC early'.
