Check if user already voted in poll

Hello, 
 I've noticed that when you return to a thread with a poll that you already voted in, you see the 'Vote' button and if you press it, it triggers the Poll.OnVote event. I need to make a difference between a user changing his vote and actually voting for the first time in a poll. So.. how do I check if it's a new vote on a new poll or if the user only changed his vote from a previusly voted poll?

Since there aren't two separate events (Before and After) this is difficult. OnVote is fired after the save, so there's no way to do a just-in-time comparison. So I'm not actually sure if it's currently possible without additional logging. (ie, you could log every user vote in a separate table and check the new vote against historical votes)
