Subscribe Users To Group Applications

The following automation script will allow you to automatically subscribe members to group applications when they join a group.  Once you deploy the automation script, you will then be able to create rules that will allow you to select the group or groups and the application types you'd like members to get subscribed to automatically once they join the group.

The automation script also takes into consideration adding members via roles and unsubscribes members from the group applications when they leave a group.

Installation Instructions

1. Download the zip file and unzip the contents.  The contents of the zip file should contain a single xml file with the name SubscribeUsersToGroupApplications-Automation.xml

2. Deploy the automation script, SubscribeUsersToGroupApplications-Automation.xml. The following video demonstrates how to deploy the script:

3. Create a rule using the automation script.  The following video demonstrates how to create a rule.  The example shown here is a rule that subscribes members to the Blog(s) and Event(s) applications for both the Customer Advisory group and the Partners group.

  •  can this be configured to subscribe a user to a specific blog or will it be 'all' blogs within a group environment? I'm looking for something I can use to subscribe all new and existing members to our new community news blog https://engx.theiet.org/b/engx-news and wondering if I can use this or if a different automation will need to be built. Thinking

    Hey Lisa, currently this one will subscribe users to all blogs in the group.

    This automation tweaked from looking at groups to looking at individual blogs would need to be made to achieve what you’re after. Probably not a huge effort, but a few changes to be made. We can add this to the backlog of items we could get to in the future, or if you’re looking for something sooner we have our Professional Services team you could engage with to build this out.
