In 9.2 I'm experimenting with using a gallery. I want to be able to upload files to the gallery and then publish them at an appropriate, later time. As an administrator or a gallery owner, when I upload a file, it's created as PUBLISHED and I have to manage the gallery to toggle it unpublished. This lets the file exist in the published state for a minute or so until it's toggled. Is there a way to create the content with the default status of unpublished? Thanks in advance.
You could use moderation for non admins or gallery owners, otherwise this would require a custom plugin to listen to the Media Events.BeforeCreate event and update the IsApproved flag in the MediaBeforeCreateEventArgs.
Thanks for the response Brian. Mostly this will be PDF and ZIP files. I need to have an employee upload files, but not the general public (though they can view/download) so I've set the employee as gallery owner with upload rights. Nobody else will be monitoring this so moderation won't work in this case. She just needs to be able to "stage" content to publish at a later date. I'm an inexperienced admin...we just inherited this system and I went through the basic 9.2 training a couple of months ago. I'm not familiar with how to change the flags you indicate. Would changing the "MediaBeforeCreateEventsArgs" do what I'm looking for? If so, how/where is that done. Sorry for being thick.
It's going to require custom development work to create the plugin. It's not something that can be configured.
Thanks. We'll just deal with unpublishing them after uploading. It's not that big of a deal, just inconvenient and there's a chance someone *could* download the file in the minute or so it's public immediately after uploading.
