An admin or group owner can set the number of verifications needed to promote a reply to suggested answer or verified answer.
Setting a suggested answer threshold determines how many user "verify answer" clicks are needed before the answer is promoted to suggested answer. Setting a verified answer threshold determines how many verifications are needed to promote the reply to verified answer. If at any time the thread starter verifies a reply, that reply becomes the verified answer regardless of thresholds. If anyone rejects a suggested answer or verified answer, that can bump the reply's status back down.
To set the suggested answer or verified answer thresholds:
- Navigate to the desired forum.
- Mouse over Management.
- Click Manage forum. The Manage forum panel appears.
- Click Forum options. The Forum options panel appears.
- In the Suggested Answer Vote Threshold field, enter the number of votes to promote an answer to a suggested answer.
- In the Verified Answer Vote Threshold field, enter the number of votes an answer has to receive in order to be marked as verified. (Note that if the thread starter marks one answer as verified, this circumvents the threshold.)
- Click Save.
