Migrating from IOAuthData to IExternalLinkedAuthentication

We are migrating our SSO implementation from IOAuthClient to IExternalLinkedAuthentication.

The user is successfully redirected to the external provider, and the authentication flow completes successfully. On the callback, I am calling the SetLinkedUserData method, but the user is not getting logged in afterward.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Role to view content only for a private group

For a private group can we create a role which only have access to view the content (should not be able to create/edit/delete content for any application in the group). The member role and manager role associated with the group should not be impacted. If so please share the steps.

Hi Anshuman Prusty

You can create a custom site role and assign that role’s permissions to a group without granting users the ability to create, edit, or delete content — but you do need to be very careful about which permissions are enabled or disabled.

It’s also important to note that permissions in Verint are additive. For example, if you go to the group, select Members, click Add, and then add the site role while also adding those users as standard group members, any existing general member permissions configured for that group will also apply to those users.

The best approach for granting more exclusive or controlled permissions is to:

Create the custom site role.
Add the appropriate users to that site role.
Navigate to the group where you want to apply the permissions.
Select the pencil icon → Manage Group → Permissions → Site Roles tab.
Toggle Show All Roles.
Locate the specific site role and configure only the permissions you want that role to have within that group.

This method gives you much more granular control and helps prevent unintended permissions from being inherited through standard group membership.

Hello,

I have a question about whether Verint indexes all of the content within in a community. In particular, if a community manager creates static content pages - for things like resources - could those be searched on? So that searching on the product name could return posts, forums, members (maybe) and related resources.

Hope this is straightforward and looking forward to any clarity.

Good question, Ahmed.

In most Verint Communities, content is indexed automatically based on the content type and whether it’s enabled for search/indexing — so you typically do not need to manually submit pages through a sitemap process. Static pages, resource pages, knowledge content, forums, blogs, etc. can all be included in SOLR indexing if they are configured as searchable and visible to users.

Tagging can definitely help improve search relevance and discoverability, though. For example, adding consistent product names, categories, or metadata/tags to content can make it easier for related results to surface together in search.

There are also admin-level search settings/configurations that influence what content types are indexed and how results are weighted/ranked. So while the indexing itself is generally automatic, thoughtful tagging and content structure can improve the overall search experience significantly.

Yes, Verint Community search (SOLR search) can index more than just forum posts.
Static resource pages, custom pages and other content types can usually appear in search results as well, depending on a user's role and permission and access to groups and content.

So a search for a product name could potentially return discussions, resources, and other related community content.

Hello,

I'm working with ratings on blog posts (content), see What are Ratings? - User Documentation - Verint Community 13.x - Verint | Telligent Community.

However, in the reporting I can not find the ratings anywhere. I would like to see an overview of what content is rated best and what the score was (on a 1-5 scale). Instead of having to go to all content blog posts one by one, I would like to see this in an overview in reporting.

Is there a way to see this?

I'm on 13.0.2....

Out of the box, there is not currently a reporting view that provides a consolidated overview of blog/content ratings with the actual 1–5 star values displayed.

The closest available option would be under:
Content → Interactions

From there, you can filter the report site-wide for Blogs (and optionally by Group if needed). That report will show the interactions related to ratings/votes on blog posts, including who interacted with the content.

However, one limitation is that the report does not expose the actual rating weight/value itself — so while you can see that a rating interaction occurred, you cannot see whether the user selected 1 star, 3 stars, 5 stars, etc.

So unfortunately, what you described (a centralized report showing highest-rated content and the actual rating scores) is not something available out of the box in 13.0.2.

Out of the box, there is not currently a way to automatically subscribe users to all applications/content types within a group when they join that group.

The closest out-of-the-box functionality is for forums specifically (called Forum Autosubscriber) — where users can automatically be subscribed to forums associated with a group upon joining. However, extending that behavior to additional application types or broader subscription management would require a custom automation.

That said, we do offer a Subscription Management Automation Bundle that helps simplify and automate the subscription experience for users. One of the automations included allows you to configure which application types users are automatically subscribed to when joining a group. Additional automations within the bundle help streamline other subscription and notification management scenarios across the community as well.

The main benefit of these automations is reducing the amount of manual subscription management required by users, while also helping ensure members receive notifications and updates for the content most relevant to them automatically.

Howdy!

We're currently planning a v13 upgrade and Verint-hosted migration, and I'm working on a homepage redesign for our Community Hub. One of the key improvements we want to make is creating a differentiated experience for returning members vs. first-time visitors.

Specifically, we'd like returning logged-in members to see a personalized "My Community" view on the homepage that surfaces:

• Unread posts and new activity in the groups they belong to
• Upcoming events they've RSVP'd to (or events from their groups)
• Replies to their forum posts or comments
• New votes or status updates on Ideas they've submitted or followed

First-time or infrequent visitors would see a more general welcome/onboarding experience instead.

A few questions:

1. Is this kind of conditional, personalized homepage experience achievable using OOTB v13 widgets? If so, which widgets would you recommend combining to get closest to this?

2. If OOTB widgets can't fully achieve this, is it something Verint Professional Services has implemented for other customers, and roughly how complex is it?

We're also curious whether other community managers have solved for this use case and what approach worked best for you.

I am only in month 4 of community management so I really appreciate the collective expertise here and have already learned a lot from reading the community discussions.

For “new votes or status updates on Ideas they’ve submitted or followed,” this can be partially achieved using the Ideas – Ideas List widget with a filter configured to display ideas submitted by the logged-in user. Capturing ideas a user follows is not as straightforward with this same configuration.

As an alternative, the Activity Story Stream widget can be used to surface a more personalized activity feed by content type. This approach helps capture a broader range of idea-related updates—such as votes, comments, and status changes—in a more dynamic and holistic way.

Building on this from a v13 perspective, you can further enhance homepage personalization by using site roles to control widget visibility.

This adds another layer on top of standard widget configuration. For example, you can:

Present a more guided, onboarding-focused homepage experience for users in a “new member” role
Transition returning users into a more activity-centric “My Community” style layout
Show or hide specific homepage modules based on role membership, rather than relying solely on widget-level filters

This is particularly useful when you want clearly differentiated homepage experiences without introducing custom development for every condition. In practice, many communities use roles as a lightweight segmentation mechanism to bridge the gap between standard OOTB capabilities and more advanced personalization needs.

While it doesn’t fully replace deeper contextual logic (such as event- or interaction-triggered rules), it does significantly extend what can be achieved natively in v13 when structuring tailored homepage experiences.

Hi Ragan Rhodes ! Welcome to the Telligent/Verint Community.

You can partially achieve what you're describing with OOTB v13 functionality, especially for the “My Community” concept for returning members.
It's a bit much to explain in just a forum reply so let me try to give you my first thoughts, hope it helps you!

For example, you can place Forum - Thread widgets on the homepage and configure them to surface unread or recently updated discussions from the areas/groups a member has access to.
Similarly, the Events - Event widgets support filtering options that can help surface upcoming events and other filtering options.
For your ideation personalization goals and replies to threads you've created, things become a bit more conditional and are harder to achieve with purely OOTB widgets and functions. I'd advise to go into the widget configurations and try some things in a testing group.
- Otherwise in those cases, some custom development work is often needed to tailor the experience more precisely.
(You can also make sure your users subscribe themselves properly to forums, events, ideas so they will keep up to date with new posts, replies, upvotes and comments.)

Usually this involves either modifying existing widgets or creating bespoke homepage behavior through Verint Professional Services or a Verint Partner.
From what I’ve seen, this is fairly typical work and not considered complex.

Personalizing the homepage is definitely worthwhile because it improves both user experience and engagement. Returning members benefit from quick access to relevant activity, while first-time visitors typically need a more guided onboarding and discovery experience. Having different experiences for those audiences is usually a very effective approach.

The feedback we received for the need for publishing the author included similar scenarios for what you have listed. While there is the feedback feature for follow ups and additional clarity on a piece of content, it's the highlighting of SMEs and process/ document owner for further clarity in the business.

I believe the easiest work around at this moment is using the @ mention where applicable, either at the beginning or end of the article, or the Activity Story Stream as suggested.

I'll add this idea for consideration in future versions.
