Great question—and the answer is a bit of a “yes and no,” depending on how you think about structure in Verint.

All content in Verint technically lives within a group structure. Even the “site” itself is actually considered the top-level group behind the scenes. So in that sense, there isn’t a way to create content that exists completely outside of groups.

That said, you can absolutely create something that functions like a site-wide, group-independent FAQ or wiki.

Verint allows you to create applications directly at the site level (the top-level group), rather than within a specific sub-group. The process is the same as creating an application in any group:

Go to the pencil icon

Select Manage Site (top-level group)

Navigate to Applications

Click Add Application

When you create a wiki or articles application at this level, it isn’t tied to any specific community group from a user perspective—it behaves like a centralized, global resource. You can also permission it just like any other group-level application, so you still have full control over visibility and access.

So practically speaking:

❌ You can’t create content completely outside the group structure

✅ But you can create a site-level (global) FAQ/wiki that feels independent of any one group

Because of this, you don’t necessarily need to create a separate “Community Support” group unless you want that content to be more segmented, branded, or managed independently.

If your goal is something similar to the Element14 support area—a centralized help hub—the site-level application approach is usually the cleanest way to achieve that in Verint.

Is there a way to have a collection of posts outside the context of a group?

Howdy! I'm considering creating an FAQ or wiki to support our members, but I want it to be independent of any particular group. Is it possible to have a wiki or collection of articles that isn't attached to a specific group? Or are all resources within the Verint community organized within groups? Alternatively, would I need to establish a Community Support group beforehand?

I was inspired by the Element 14 community: https://community.element14.com/members-area/support/

But I am still learning about Verint Community management, so I'm not well-versed enough in how these pages are set up and structured to be able to recognize the setup...yet 😄

Thanks for the ideas and knowledge sharing!

Anyone else seen DM/Message replies sometimes display in triplicate?

Has anyone seen this issue on their site (or Verint's own site) before?

It affects DMs / Messages.. you type in a reply, hit send, then it shows the reply in triplicate (sometimes even more.. we've seen 7 duplicates).

If you reload the page it shows 1 reply was actually sent, so it's purely an intermittent UI bug.

(screenshot of this happening last week on Verint's site running v14)

We raised a support case about this issue, but engineering have been unable to reproduce it, which isn't surprising; we have no idea how it happens either!

If you've seen this please leave a comment, and if you know how to reproduce this that'd be even better! 🙂

RE: Anyone else seen DM/Message replies sometimes display in triplicate?

Hey Jon Allen I've just realised that TE-19106 was previously logged back in April 2025 in response to a case I raised about being able to create multiple DMs by spamming the enter/send button. That ends up creating actual duplicate DMs that persist between page refreshes.

The problem we're talking about in this thread is where we hit the send button and see the DM sent in triplicate, but when you refresh the page you can see only one DM actually got sent. I.e. it's a UI bug more than anything.

Can you confirm that TE-19106 covers both these scenarios?

RE: Report of new group members for moderators

That's exactly what I am looking for and we have a plan to upgrade this year. thank you!

Report of new group members for moderators

Hello! We want to simplify the process for our moderators to connect with new group members. To clarify, I'm not inquiring about new accounts in general, but specifically about members who are new to the group. Is there a way to generate a report that includes members based on their group join date?

Ideally, we would like to pull a weekly report that lists members who have joined in the past week for each group. This way, we can share the information with our group moderators, allowing them to reach out individually to the new members.

At this time (as far as I know), there isn’t a way to generate a report specifically based on group join date or to automate a weekly report of new members by group in your current version.

Within the Admin panel (Groups → Group Details), you can select an individual group and view summary data showing how many members joined in the past 7 or 30 days. However, this is only a high-level count and doesn’t provide a downloadable list of those specific users.

Looking ahead, this functionality is improved in Version 13. There, Group Membership Exports are available at the group level. These exports can be permissioned (via the Manage Membership permission), so group owners can access them directly. The export includes details like each member’s access level, join date, and last visited date—making it much easier to identify and reach out to new members. The report would still need to be run per group, but it gives you the visibility you're looking for.

If upgrading to Version 13 isn’t on your roadmap just yet, there are some other helpful features and enhancements you might find valuable in the meantime (see Release Notes for Community 13 ). For your specific need, though, achieving a recurring, automated report in Version 12 would require a custom development effort.

Create works perfectly, but Edit does not display control panel categories.

Current Behavior

Create (Works):
- URL: #_cptype=panel&_cpcontexttype=Container&_cppanelid=...
- Control panel opens with configuration fields
- Event Log shows: GetCreateConfiguration returned 1 property groups

Edit (Fails):
- Initial URL: #_cptype=category&_cpcontexttype=Application&_cpcontextid={app-type-guid}
- Redirects to: #_cptype=panel&_cpcontexttype=Container&_cppanelid=...
- No control panel categories appear
- Event Logs show CanEdit and Get are called, but ConfigurationOptions and GetEditConfiguration are never accessed

Blog Application Edit (For Comparison):
- URL stays at: #_cptype=category&_cpcontexttype=Application&_cpcontextid={blog-app-type-guid}
- Control panel sidebar shows categories (Blog Options, Post Options, Posts, etc.)
- No redirect occurs

Implementation

public class AnalogDoceboApplicationType : IManageableApplicationType, ITranslatablePlugin
{
public Guid ApplicationTypeId => new Guid("026019E1-1A2E-4716-9429-BB7B308A4E94");

public PropertyGroup[] ConfigurationOptions { get { return GetConfigurationProperties(); } }

public bool CanManage(int userId, Guid applicationId) { return true; }
public bool CanEdit(int userId, Guid applicationId) { return true; }

// Works - called during Create
public PropertyGroup[] GetCreateConfiguration(int userId, Guid containerTypeId, Guid containerId)
{
return GetConfigurationProperties(); // Returns catalog_id, catalog_name, app_name
}

public IApplication Create(int userId, Guid containerTypeId, Guid containerId, IReadOnlyConfigurationData data)
{
// Successfully creates application
}

// Never called
public PropertyGroup[] GetEditConfiguration(int userId, Guid applicationId)
{
// Pre-populates PropertyGroups with current values from database
}

// Never called
public void Update(int userId, Guid applicationId, IReadOnlyConfigurationData data)
{
// Updates database with new values
}
}

The IApplication implementation has a valid Url property and properly set Container.

What I've Verified

- IApplication.Url is not null - returns valid URL
- IApplication.Container is properly set
- CanEdit returns true for administrators
- Tried CanManage returning both true and false - no difference
- Added ConfigurationOptions to both ApplicationType and Application classes - never accessed

Questions

1. How do custom IManageableApplicationType implementations register control panel categories for the Edit button?
2. Is there a separate interface (like IApplicationControlPanelCategories) needed to register control panel categories for the Application context type?
3. Are GetEditConfiguration and Update methods part of the standard IManageableApplicationType interface? The documentation doesn't mention them.
4. Why does Create use a Container-level panel while Edit tries to use an Application-level category? Is this expected behavior?
5. Is Edit functionality for custom IManageableApplicationType applications supported the same way as built-in applications?

RE: Anyone else seen DM/Message replies sometimes display in triplicate?

Christopher G.
You have discussions going back and forth, and usually your members are sensible, they upvote what's useful, that gets highlighted at the top of the whole thread. All is well.

Sometimes, though, the conversation doesn't really have anything worth highlighting, and so your members don't upvote anything.

Except that one person, who feels their comment is the most important, and so upvotes their own, so that it's highlighted at the top of the thread, forcing you to monitor and go in and downvote it so that it's demoted.

But that also leaves an audit trail, invites discussion and disgreement, "why did you downvote me?".

I would rather silently remove up or downvotes, but more importantly, prevent someone from upvoting themselves.

How can this be governed?

RE: How do you prevent a user from up-voting their own comment?

Christopher G.
Also known as "griefing".

We've had members start arguments with other members because someone's comment was upvoted/downvoted/self voted on and that affects a perceived level of importance or disagreement. From an engagement and participation perspective this is an important area to control and is part of what I'd consider "community 101". Even Reddit has this as a controllable limitation.

RE: Easy way to remove users from a Group/Forum?

Hi emmosophos

Out of the box, there isn’t a built-in way to bulk remove members from a group or forum once they’ve been added via a site role like “Registered Users.” The only native way to remove those users would be to remove the site role itself—but doing so could unintentionally impact their access and permissions elsewhere in the community if that role is used across multiple groups.

In our experience, organizations that need to manage membership at scale (either adding or removing users in bulk) typically rely on a custom solution. We’ve developed scripts that allow for bulk updates to group membership, either based on a defined list of users or by leveraging site roles.

As a best practice going forward, we recommend creating a dedicated site role for each group—for example, “GroupName Members”—rather than using “Registered Users.” This approach allows you to manage membership more precisely, since users can be added or removed from the group simply by assigning or removing that specific role, without affecting broader community access.

For your current situation, there isn’t a native bulk removal option available, so cleanup would need to be done manually or through a custom script to streamline the process.

Hope this helps—happy to discuss the scripting option further if that would be useful.

Easy way to remove users from a Group/Forum?

Hello,

For some of our forums, we assign the role “Registered Users” so that all users with a community account are automatically added to the group/forum.

However, we have noticed that when this role is removed, the users are not removed, and the Members list remains populated with all community members.

Is there a way to remove all members from a group/forum without having to go through each one individually?

Stanton

This is a tricky one, and unfortunately, from what I’ve seen, there isn’t a clean out-of-the-box way to govern this behavior.

Permissions around voting vary by content type. For example, in forums, there is a permission that allows users to rate replies/comments—but it’s an all-or-nothing setting. If you disable it, then no one can vote at all (unless you grant that ability through a specific role or admin-level permission). That makes it difficult to target just self-upvoting behavior without impacting everyone.

Additionally, some applications don’t even offer the same level of control over voting permissions, so consistency across content types can be limited.

Outside of that, I haven’t seen any native option to prevent users from upvoting their own content or to silently remove votes without leaving some kind of trace.

RE: What's the intended behaviour for permissions and changing of group type?

Christopher G.
We have a role 'Registered Users' that members are added to when they create an account, and then when they interact with a group, they would become a 'member' of that group too.

I set permissions appropriately on both in the Membership Types 'definition' for what they should and shouldn't be allowed to do.
In the meantime, you may need to manually adjust the permissions for those roles to ensure the group is fully private.
This is what I have had to do.

An important security issue is that we can no longer trust this functionality to revert or switch permissions, and it has to be double checked each time a change is made.

What's the intended behaviour for permissions and changing of group type?

Christopher G.

Where for Private (unlisted) you do not have "read group" permissions for registered users, or for everyone/anonymous users (aka the public.

Great! You're ready to go live, you have changed your group to "Public (Open Membership)" and you're good to go.

Except, you're not. Someone is unhappy, and you need to change it back.

No worries, right? You can go to "Private (Unlisted)" and it'll reset the permissions, it'll remove those who have "read group" access, and it will be hidden from the public.

Well Then

For some reason they do not, at least not for me.

The 'everyone' and 'registered users' roles still have read access, nothing has been removed or denied. I'd be okay if 'members' still had it, because we haven't said to remove all members, but it appears it's not applying the global permission template to over-ride a 'permitted' to a 'denied'.

Is anyone else experiencing or seeing this, have I discovered a bug? I believe we're on 12.1.9.35025

RE: What's the intended behaviour for permissions and changing of group type?

Christopher G. Stanton

It does sound like you may have run into a platform bug. Normally, when you switch a group back from Public (Open Membership) to Private (Unlisted), the permissions should reset according to the default template, and “read group” access for roles like Everyone or Registered Users should be removed unless explicitly granted.

A follow-up question: are you solely using site roles to permission users, or do you also have those site roles applied as Members, Managers, or Owners? There are separate settings for membership type in the same area of the admin panel, and these can sometimes override or interact with the site role permissions in unexpected ways.

Since the permissions aren’t updating as expected, I would recommend opening a ticket with Verint Support. They can confirm whether this is a known issue in version 12.1.9.35025 and advise on any workarounds or patches. In the meantime, you may need to manually adjust the permissions for those roles to ensure the group is fully private.
