General purpose automations have no special integration within Verint Community and are used for general business logic and external integrations.

Why would I implement a general purpose automation?

If you want to automate Verint Community but your automation's purpose does not align with a more specific [[Automation Targets|automation target]], you can implement your automation as a general purpose automation.

General purpose automations are managed in Administration > Automation > Automations.

How do I create a custom general purpose automation?

To create a general purpose automation, select "General purpose automations" when creating a new automation in [[Working with Automation Studio|Automation Studio]].

Unlike other automation targets, general purpose automations receive no additional private APIs. The purpose is completely up to the implementation.

Once a general purpose automation is created, it can be configured and enabled by going to Administration > Automation > Automations and creating or editing an automation and selecting the newly created automation type.
