Hey Oli, Happy Tuesday! Users can change their email address in their Settings in the options tab.
Is that what you're after?
Ugh, I was in profile being dense. So if the user updates the email there, will they then log in with the new email going forward?
I had a hunch you may be referring to login details, but went with the simple email change first just to check. That email address is what's used by the site to contact, it is not their login. e.g. here, we do not require email to login, you can pick a username without using your email address.
The username you would need to change in admin. Forgive me as I do not recall if you're using SSO on your site. If so, then that would need to be managed a bit differently depending on how SSO is configured.
If not using SSO, then you can change their username when editing their account: https://community.telligent.com/community/11/w/user-documentation/62955/how-do-i-administer-members (v11 doc, but same as in v10)
Thanks Grant, appreciate the help!
To add, if you are not using SSO, but you have configured the login widget to use email address as a login option the it would be the email address in settings described above. That should cover all the scenarios
We are using SSO for employee logins, but not for external users which this user is. They register in the community; does this mean the user has to log in via their email?
I can see this is the case when trying to log in via incognito mode:
This appears to be custom so I can't say for sure how it was implemented. I can say if that is just a standard login form, it is probably going to be the settings email but you would have to confirm with whomever did the custom widget.
Juts had confirmation that the user was able to log in and all changes have been successfully made, so looks like email + password is the login for our non federated users. Thanks for your help Patrick!
