Can the welcome message to new group members be blocked?

I know that through the Administration panel and Membership > New member experience options that you can turn off the welcome message for newcomers to the overall site. Can you also do this at the individual group level?

The notification when a member is added to a group can be disabled by going to Administration > Notifications, searching for "Group Membership Added", unchecking "Enabled", and clicking Save. 
 This will disable the notification for all groups.
