Tile Options

Fauxbar's tiles let you quickly access your favorite websites.

Address Box Options

Find your history items, bookmarks, and opened tabs by typing into Fauxbar's Address Box.
Search engines can also be accessed by typing their keyword and pressing spacebar, or by clicking the icon.
Auto Assist
Results
Separate unwanted domains and/or URLs with commas. Use * as mid-URL wildcards.
Keywords
Fallback URL Change to:
• Used when you're not using a search engine keyword and an invalid address is submitted, e.g. when you've entered a search query instead of a URL. Does not work if a URL result is auto-highlighted due to Auto Assist.
• Must contain {searchTerms}

Search Engine Options

If a website you visit has a search field, right-click the field to add it as a Fauxbar search engine.
Then, within Fauxbar, search engines you've added can be used from either the Address Box or Search Box.

Below are Fauxbar's search engines. Fauxbar cannot access nor import Chrome's search engines.
Keywords let you access Fauxbar's search engines from both the Address Box and Search Box.
Drag an icon to rearrange the display order, or sort alphabetically.
You haven't added any search engines to Fauxbar yet.

When you visit a webpage that has a search field, right-click the field. If Fauxbar is able to interpret the field's code, Fauxbar: Add as search engine will appear on the context menu.

Keyboard Shortcut Options

You can customize various shortcuts to open Fauxbar with your keyboard.

To view or modify Fauxbar's keyboard shortcuts:
  1. Open Chrome's Keyboard Shortcuts.
  2. Under Fauxbar, several shortcut options will be available.
  3. To modify a shortcut, click an input box, then press your desired keys.

Below are some initial options to configure Fauxbar how you'd like.
Note: Fauxbar's keyboard shortcuts can override some of Chrome's behaviors.

To use Fauxbar from Chrome's Omnibox, focus the Omnibox and press F+Spacebar
Certain Address Box options also apply to Fauxbar's Omnibox results.

Options
Here you can save or restore Fauxbar's options: all cosmetic and functionality settings you've chosen, including your site tiles, Fauxbar search engines, URL keywords, and blacklist. However, options do not contain your history items, bookmarks, search queries, or Address Box usage habits.
For Google account cloud sync to work, you must be signed in under Chrome's settings, and under Advanced Sync Settings, "Extensions" must be ticked. Click to here to check.

Errors
If Fauxbar ever feels like it's broken yet no errors get logged, Fauxbar's background console may contain useful information.
Memory
If Fauxbar's memory usage concerns you, Fauxbar Memory Helper is an optional Chrome extension that quietly reloads Fauxbar when your computer has been idle for ~10 minutes, as long as none of Fauxbar's pages are open.

Frecency Scoring Options

Fauxbar uses Mozilla's frecency algorithm to determine the order of your history items and bookmarks.
Below, you can alter how the frecency scores are measured.
