Great write up. In a strange co-incidence on Tuesday we demonstrated to the EMEA Communities Group a plugin, one of it's features is Image to alt text, we should be ready to release this by the end of the month as a plugin extension to the platform.

[emoticon:84281105d9464683910b3447913acc28] 2. Outbound: There are opportunities to use GPT as an alternative way to answer questions on a federation of internal systems only. Especially those with knowledge but lesser engagement skills will benefit.

[emoticon:838ad4f5f65b49d6ab9ef4a40d1a708d]️ 4. Inbound: The group has come to realize that it is very hard to oversee the long-term effects of GPT usage. Especially online communities with a utilitarian nature focusing solely on 'shared content' will see the impact. The need to join a community to get an answer is diminished.

We left with the feeling that the time was well spent and more time is needed to determine the right strategy and tactics. We will revisit this topic a few times this year (whether we like it or not).

[emoticon:84281105d9464683910b3447913acc28] So, if AI is used to improve the value that members experience and does not harm others in the process, I'm all for it. [emoticon:84281105d9464683910b3447913acc28] A community is a group of people with a common interest. If AI will lead to alienation of its member because they feel they are talking to ChatGPT...I am against it. [emoticon:17d3afeb71044dfa9a98b76e25255612] AI is like nuclear power. Used for the right purposes with will do good to the world. Used for the wrong purposes and it will be extremely destructive. [emoticon:0e14ed90a91841f38d073b5240560352] I worry about the fact that now every bad actor has access to this kind of nuclear power. I don't think many people can handle the responsibility of this kind of power and do well. We will see a surge of malicious usages. I worry about even people who intend well but do not oversee their actions. If you thought that giving every world citizen a podium via Twitter was a good idea, then this will dwarf those dynamics. Super helpful, this and a number of the other Verint staf articles have given a lot more shape to how I need to think about my community and what needs to go into defining the community strategy. This is all new to me for the most part.. new ways of thinking about community rather than just a place to provide product support.

This was a very helpful read Becky! Point 5 is resonating with me a lot as I am starting to hear a lot about the analytics I people want to see and how to baseline 'growth'.. the first thing out of everyone is the need and how to grow the community.. but I think the point about changing behaviors which will obviously then imply also a motivation transition perhaps is a very important metric to track... particularly in my case where I am taking on and existing community that has become 'stale' and trying to reinvigorate it!

I am still not clear on how the distinction between social channels and the community should be drawn.. still trying to piece all of these peripheral constructs together.

This article was very helpful to me, I am just taking on responsibility for our company community which has been running for many years (on Telligent) but has not been a cohesively managed program. I now have the dubious task of re-energizing the community and am in the early stages of clean-up and re-organization but developing the strategy for the community has been a stress point for me. Blogs like this one provide insight on how to think about my community, the target audience and their needs which my community should strive to salsify.
